Funky BYS Hocus Pocus Manicure

I felt like wearing a bright, funky colour this week, especially since I've been driving myself mad with all the gold mani's of late. BYS Hocus Pocus is an eye-catching blue-green shade with miniscule shimmery particles throughout. It's coming off more blue than green in these photos, but it looks very aqua-esque on.

BYS is a budget brand, so you can pick this up for around $3.95 (or less) at various stores across Australia, including Gloss, Ice, Go-Lo, Sam's Warehouse, The Reject Shop, Cheap As Chips and KMart. The good thing about them being so cheap is that you can go batshit-crazy and get a multitude of different shades.

I'm wearing two coats in the photos below.

Review: Boca Lupo Energy Drink

"Boca Lupo or 'in the wolf's mouth' is Italian for good luck".

Hubby and I have been guzzling these for the last week, and can I just say, YUM! I accepted an offer to trial these drinks without really having heard of them, but knowing that I like most drinks I come across. It turns out Boca Lupo is an Italian energy drink.

OK, so I wasn't quite howling at the moon like their website suggests, but I did have a smile on my face from ear to ear. In the past, I haven't been a big fan of energy drinks. Both Mother and V are not my cup of tea, mainly because I don't enjoy the flavour. Boca Lupo, though, is delicious. It's 12% fruit plus Guarana and Caffeine for the energy hit. The fruits used are peach, orange, pineapple and maracuja. And it's a pretty pink colour, too!

Boca Lupo have omitted taurine, preservatives, artificial flavours and colours. It comes in a 330ml aluminium can, which serves to keep the drink cold. Not that it lasted that long when we opened our cans, though!

The main flavour hit is from the peach, which is just delicious. I can't say I felt much of an energy hit from my one can per night, but I imagine results would vary from person to person. Just a warning that this is not recommended for children (duh!), pregnant or lactating women or people who are sensitive to caffeine.

* I was sent a case of Boca Lupo for consideration. I received no payment and this post is my honest opinion.

It's Just Another Manic(ure) Monday

Here's my Max Factor Max Effect mini nail polish manicure in Ivory. Although it's called Ivory, this shade is as gold as Kylie's hotpants. I applied two coats; these photos were taken straight after application.

I'm now on Day 2 and three nails have begun to chip, however this is without the addition of a top coat. I won an entire set of these gorgeous little mini's; check them out below!

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to all the Mummies out there! I just scored socks (it's OK, I actually asked for them), a Mother's Day Scratchie Pack, a lovely sparkly flower card and 2 Pillow Pets!! Rainbow Unicorn and Magical Unicorn.  Apparently, "it's a Pillow! it's a Pet! it's a Pillow Pet!" LOL. I've accidentally put them in some kind of vague sexual position when setting up for the photo, please dismiss this, it was the best way to fit them in the frame. :oD

The Body Shop Earth Lovers Pear & Lemongrass Shower Gel

$14.95 (250 ml)

This product is 100% biodegradable, comes in a 100% recycled plastic bottle and contains no sulphates, parabens or colourants. It's also soap-free. Without a doubt, The Body Shop are doing their bit for the environment.

Now let's talk about the product. This is a satisfactory shower gel from The Body Shop, with a lovely, refreshing scent. The pear and lemongrass aroma is not overbearing, yet just enough to put a smile on my face as I use it. The surprising thing, though, is the consistency. I was expecting a gel (given the title of the product), however the formula is very thin, almost the consistency of water. As a result, you have to be very careful not to lose it down the drain after you've dispensed some into your hand. I'm super-speedy now, so I've got my method down pat. Once you apply the shower gel, it rubs into quite a nice frothy lather, which is satisfying, and my skin is left soft and clean. Overall, a nice body product with a refreshing smell, but not ideal if you love thicker gels.

I've noticed that The Body Shop stores in Australia hardly ever have a sale, however I was lucky enough to pick this up as a '2 for the price of 1' deal at a shopping centre while holidaying in Singapore. Go me!!

Dr. Seuss' The Lorax

Starring: (voices) Zac Efron, Danny DeVito, Taylor Swift, Ed Helms, Betty White
Genre: Animation/Family/Fantasy

The Lorax is set in the walled-in city of Thneedville, where everything is artificial. 12 year old Ted (Zac Efron) sets out on a mission to acquire a real tree, to win the affections of the girl of his dreams, Audrey. He travels out of town to visit the Once-ler, and attempts to undo the devastation the Once-ler caused when he ignored the protests of the Lorax and let his greediness reign. However, the Mayor of Thneedville is hell-bent on stopping Ted, since his profits are based on exploiting the city's environmental collapse.

The characters are brought to life by great voice work from the cast, and fantastic computer-animation. The hair on these characters, in particular, is just amazing. The film is colourful and just gorgeous to look at. This is one of those movies where hubby and I were just as entertained as our four year old son. A great film, that also comes with a strong environmental message, and a good one to see as a family.

Fun Facts: 12 year old Ted is named after Theodor Seuss Geisel, Dr. Seuss's real name. And Audrey (played by Taylor Swift) is named after Audrey Geisel, Dr. Seuss' wife. (source: wikipedia)
