Stripey Mermaid Manicure!

If you ask on Twitter "what colour should I paint my nails?" and you get only one reply, "green and blue stripes" (thanks @Cypherage) you should probably freak out for a few hours, then think 'HELL YES! WHY NOT, LET'S GO!'. And then create a Stripey Mermaid Manicure! Despite a complete lack of experience in the area of stripes, I threw caution to the wind, and this is how it went .....

Products Used
Ulta3 Nail Colour in Mermaid Green
Ulta3 Nail Colour in Tahitian Lime
BYS Nail Enamel in Hocus Pocus

I couldn't be stuffed with a top coat this time. I'm on Day 2 of this mani and the polish is starting to chip a tiny bit at the tips, so maybe I should have. Note that these are all very inexpensive brands of polish, so this is quite the Budget Mani. In retrospect, Mermaid Green and Hocus Pocus are very similar in colour, and I probably should have chosen more distinct shades. But on the whole, I think it looks OK!

What do you think?

Disclaimer: All products were bought by me (and probably for about $8 all together!).

REVIEW: Airwick Multicolour Black Edition Candle

Airwick say: "Our sophisticated new Multicolour Candle Black Edition creates an elegant effect by softly shining through the glass patterned window, casting enchanting shadows and patterns around your room. As the candle burns, a heavenly combination of colours, illuminations and fragrance will spread throughout your home, to create an captivating atmosphere that will be enjoyed by both family and friends."

I was excited to receive this candle to review because I adore candles, but never really get around to lighting them! This one intrigued me with its multicoloured kaleidoscope-like design, which is unlike anything I've ever seen before in the big, bad (read: soft, soothing) world of candles.

Frangrantly-speaking, my candle is Purple Blackberry Fig, which is a subtle, pleasant aroma that thankfully didn't induce a headache, like some strong smells are known to give me. For me, the aroma actually became more noticeable after the candle was extinguished, leaving my lounge room smelling fresh and fruity. The other Airwick fragrances available in the Black Edition Multicolour Candle are 'Golden Winter Woods' and 'Crackling Fire & Cinnamon Spice'.

Now let's talk about the pretty! Once I lit the candle, it started glowing a bold green colour, followed by yellow, orange, red, pink, purple, dark blue and light blue (in that order!). Then the cycle starts again, and I actually found myself somewhat hypnotised by the pretty! Watching the colours slowly change also mellowed me, which is always welcome. Personally, I think these relaxing scented candles would make a great conversation-starter at a Dinner Party. Pity I never actually have Dinner Parties!

I looked at my walls, and couldn't see any shadows or patterns there from the candle shining through the glass window. I think this effect comes with a longer burn time, so I'm looking forward to checking that out, with continued use. Because the candle is housed in glass, it does get hot, and this is something to be mindful of, especially with children around. And of course, never leave a candle unattended, don't burn them for too long and never leave children alone with candles (d'uh! I know none of you would do that).

I'm loving the Airwick Multicolour Black Edition Candle; it's fun, colourful, pretty and has a subtle, gentle fragrance. The burn time is up to 30 hours, too, so there's plenty of time to enjoy the colourful light show!

Clearasil Vitamins & Extracts Daily Wash REVIEW + GIVEAWAY

This is a Product Talk by Nuffnang post.

I'm very excited to be writing my very first Nuffnang Product Talk post! I was sent a Clearasil Vitamins & Extracts Daily Wash to trial and there's also a GIVEAWAY, so keep reading be sure to get your entry in!

Clearasil say: "Formulated with Avocado extracts and nourishing Vitamin E, glycerine for hydration as well as Pomegranate fruit extract, an anti-oxidant known to help keep skin looking and feeling healthy, these delicious smelling products cleanse gently and do not leave your skin over dried."

This light green, silky smooth face wash is very creamy in texture and felt luxurious and pampering when I massaged it in. I love that the mild formula is so gentle. My skin wasn't irritated, and I feel like I could trust this Daily Wash to cleanse without causing any reaction even if my skin was going through a sensitive phase. I was left with cleansed, nourished, soft skin that felt great. The formula seems suitable for most skin types; since it doesn't dry out your skin, I'm confident dry, combination, oily (that's me) and sensitive skin types alike could benefit from using this product.

The fragrance is just lovely, too! It's light, fruity, soothing and relaxing. And just a bit addictive! The fruit extracts work to condition the skin and the formula contains less salycillic acid than other Clearasil products, making it milder, while still working to clean and prevent breakouts. I've been using this daily for a couple of weeks and I'm really happy with how clear my skin is at the moment. Admittedly, it has (strangely) been clear for about a month now, so it was clear before I started this trial, but I haven't broken out, and I feel Clearasil Vitamins & Extracts Daily Wash is working to keep my skin clear and healthy looking.

This product can also be left on and used as a Mask, but I didn't try that out, because hubby needs a break from being scared silly with my various Face Mask looks :D

Revlon Nail Art Moon Candy Manicure + Review!

Revlon Nail Art Moon Candy Nail Enamel in Galactic

There's been a lot of interest in the new Nail Art Moon Candy polishes from Revlon, so when Saumya from The Vanity Bag Diaries requested a Galactic manicure, I was more than happy to oblige. Normally I just post my manicures with lots of close-up photos, but I've decided to review this polish, or at least outline my feelings on it. And they are mixed!

POSITIVES
- it has glitter. WIN! A mixture of small and large chunks of multi-coloured glitter. Very pretty.
- it reminds me of space. It's like stars twinkling in the dark night sky. Hence the name GALACTIC.
- it's sophisticated, yet fun. Feminine, yet edgy.
- it's convenient because it's two polishes in the one joined bottle.

NEGATIVES
- like any dark coloured polish, mistakes easily show up so you have to be really careful with your edges.
- the formula of the dark blue polish isn't brilliant. I could see tiny little bumps in it, so I didn't get a completely smooth finish.
- when applying the glitter coat it looked pretty, but once it dried on the nail the colour went sort of darker, and not as aesthetically pleasing.
- the glitter particles don't sit flat on the nail. I've got chunks sticking up and thus a rough nail surface.
- you can't lay the brush back in the bottle between painting nails, because it will topple over and spill! The brush is attached to the polish you're not using thus making it heavier than the opened bottle. So if you need to put the brush down to clean up a nail, you actually have to screw the whole contraption back together so it doesn't tip over under its own weight. Not ideal when you're trying to speed-fix an accident before it dries!

Check out the photos and see what you think!

Below: the first two photos feature two coats of dark polish only.

All photos below: two coats of dark polish + one coat of glitter top coat.
