Elizabeth Arden Gift With Purchase!

I had a pretty low-key, but wonderful Birthday recently! We went to McLaren Vale and had a lovely lunch followed by a Joseph wine tasting experience at Primo Estate, that I had a voucher for. So there was lots of food, wine and gorgeous countryside!

Anyhoo, in the lead up to my Birthday, I might have emailed the husband with a gentle hint that I'd love the Elizabeth Arden Gift With Purchase (GWP), in case he was short on present ideas! Little did I know he'd already pre-ordered the new iPhone 6s for me! How amazing is that?! It gets better. In my hint-hint email, I made it easy for him by saying for the qualifying $70 or more purchase, I'd love either the Flawless Future Powered By Ceramide Night Cream, or the Skin Illuminating Firm and Reflect Moisturizer and for him to choose as I'd be thrilled with either. I also asked him to request free samples, because if you buy this GWP offer online, you get free samples with it. Well hubby, being the best catch in the entire universe, went and bought me both creams, and did it on separate days so he could get me two GWP's! I nearly cried I was so happy! Then add to that the snazzy new iPhone that's coming, and basically I'm just super-spoilt, very lucky and don't deserve such an amazing husband!

Let's look at the products.....

Flawless Future Powered by Ceramide Night Cream (50ml) $78.00

Elizabeth Arden say: 'Flawless Future Night Cream supports skin's nighttime renewal process to help brighten and even skin tone, and ease the appearance of fine lines. This intensely hydrating moisturizer features a stress-busting, mineral-rich botanical and an exclusive fragrance technology that's clinically proven to induce a feeling of well-being and relaxation for a better night's sleep. Wake up to skin that looks revitalized, luminous and flawless.'

Skin Illuminating Firm and Reflect Moisturizer (50ml) $80.00

Elizabeth Arden say: 'This luxurious cream formula deeply hydrates and immediately brightens skin with micronized Diamond Powder. Purified mushroom extract encourages surface cell turnover and reduces the appearance of pores, while a silicon derivative replenishes skin’s essential moisture binding proteins and fights moisture loss. Vitamin C derivative fights the formation of dark spots and uneven skintone. Skin feels soft and supple, and looks even toned, fresh and luminous.'

Gift With Purchase
This is a 9-piece gift set valued at $232, free when you spend $70 or more at Elizabeth Arden, exclusively at David Jones. This is available until the 27th of September if you're wondering, so if you like what you see, haul thy arse to DJ's toot sweet! I loved the contents of this GWP, and would have bought it myself had hubby not taken the hint! Here's what you get:

~ PREVAGE Anti-Aging + Intensive Repair Daily Serum (5ml)
~ PREVAGE Anti-Aging Treatment Boosting Cleanser (50ml)
~ Ceramide Daily Youth Restoring Serum (7 capsules, 3.2 ml)
~ Ceramide Lift and Firm Day Cream with Sunscreens (15ml)
~ Eight Hour Cream Skin Protectant (30ml)
~ Beautiful Color Lash Enhancing Mascara in Black (3ml)
~ Beautiful Color Moisturizing Lipstick in Pretty Pink (3.5g)
~ Beautiful Color Moisturizing Lipstick in Desert Rose (3.5g)
~ Cute Red Bag!

Free Samples
(not automatically included - you have to request them). I got...

Flawless Future Powered by Ceramide Night Cream (5ml)
Flawless Future Powered by Ceramide Caplet Serum (5ml)
PREVAGE Anti-Aging + Intensive Repair Daily Serum (5ml)

Most of these samples are the same products as either my qualifying purchase or what's in the GWP, but this is an advantage for me, as I now have extra to use, so everything will last me longer. All the products will last me twice as long anyway because I have two GWP sets! Plus the cute-as-pie samples are mini-sized, which is perfect for travelling, in particular my upcoming week away.

Haul: 40% Off Maybelline at Priceline + Rant

Who can resist 40% off Maybelline? Not I!

Hi guys! A while back Priceline had another sale (seriously, when is there not a sale happening at that place?), namely 40% off the entire Maybelline range. There are a few Maybelline products that are staples in my makeup routine, so I went in to stock up. I got everything in the photo above, plus a third Masterliner and a Fit Me Concealer, both of which I began using immediately and didn't include in the photograph. I also thought it was the perfect time to try out a few products I hadn't used before!

I've read some glowing reviews of the Dream Wonder Fluid Touch Foundation, so I'm very interested to see how it performs on my skin. This is possibly a case of bad timing though, because for the last few days I've been trialling a MAC Pro Longwear foundation sample and I'm madly in love with it. So the Fluid Touch now has big shoes to fill!

Shine-Free Foundation Stick reminds me of Benefit Fake Up Concealer!

I got the Brow Drama Sculpting Brow Mascara out of curiousity, and I don't even know why (besides it being cheap) I bought the Fit Me Shine-Free Foundation Stick because I never use the stick ones! I'll be interested to see if it mattifies my oily/combination skin and cross my fingers it's not too drying.

Oh My! So pretty!

I've just tried on the Vivid Rose ColorSensational lipstick and I'm wondering if I even swatched this in-store? It is super bright, so they are not kidding on the 'Vivid' front! I will reserve judgement until I've had a chance to rock this shade with a full face of makeup. I just had to get the Master Hi-Light Hi-Lighting Blush in Pink Rose because it looked so pretty and I don't really have anything like this in my collection. Now I just have to work out how best to use it!

Rant Alert! Priceline's over-zealous packaging is again shitting me to tears. I know they have their reasons, and some of those are for the benefit of the customer, but still, there has to be a better way. They tightly seal products with sticky tape that is wound around so many times that it's impossible to find the end to remove it. Every time I buy from Priceline, I spend a good ten minutes attempting to remove all the tape to get the products open. You can get nice sticky tape that doesn't leave hideous sticky marks on products, but they don't use this kind. They use the kind that actually rips some of the finish off the product. This is the second time I've bought a Maybelline lipstick only to have the sticky tape pull off the silver finish from the bottom of the tube. Priceline, your excessive use of sticky tape to seal products is annoying, time-consuming, nail-ruining (yes, I broke a nail trying to get some of it off) and just plain wrong when it wrecks the aesthetic of the brand new product I just paid money for at your store. See below for the photos to prove it. Rant over.

I've had it with this!
*Waves goodbye to the pretty silver finish*  :(

Katy Perry's Mad Potion!*

Are you a fan of Katy Perry? I am. I love that she's ballsy and stands up for herself. I love that she makes mistakes (Russell Brand and John Mayer to name a few!) but comes out the other side a better person. I love that she wears sparkly, pretty costumes on stage and dyes her hair every colour of the rainbow. I love her music (lucky, because my son is obsessed with 'Roar', so it's on high rotation!). But most of all, I love that she's not Miley Cyrus.

I already own two Katy Perry fragrances; Meow! which comes in a cute kitty-shaped bottle, and the more upmarket Killer Queen Royal Revolution, housed in a gorgeous blue gem-shaped bottle. I was recently sent her new perfume Mad Potion* to try, and I've been wearing it every day since. Mad Potion is proving to be a cute little bottle of fun! Unlike some strong scents, it doesn't trigger my headaches, because it's light and quite subtle to wear. I appreciate being able to spritz on a scent that's not overpowering, especially now the weather's warming up and I want to feel fresh and not weighed down by a heavy fragrance. Mad Potion is an oriental musk with a bewitching mix of vanillas. It's a lovely fresh scent perfect for the start of Spring. This magical elixir consists of......

Top - Tahitian Vanilla Orchid, Apple Musk and Pink Peonies
Heart - Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla, Creamy Musk and Jasmine Petals
Base - Mexican Vanilla Bean Absolute, Magical Musk and Glowing Amber

The perfume bottle design is pretty cute! It's shaped like a little magical potion bottle with a round plastic purple and sparkly silver glitter pull-off lid. The bottle itself is frosted glass and it's the product inside that's coloured bright pinky-purple! This reminds me of Lady Gaga's 'Fame' perfume, which is a black liquid. I know it's a gimmick, but I still find it exciting to spray on a coloured fragrance, even though the tiny amount that comes out means you can't really make out the hue on your skin anyway. I guess it makes it pretty clear (or purple!) how much product is left in the bottle, though!

Mad Potion is a fun, pleasant scent, subtle and versatile enough to wear for any occasion, from an office job, to the shopping mall or a day at the beach. I feel like this one would be perfect for teenage girls. It gives off a playful, young, whimsical vibe. It's a pretty pinky-purple colour, there's a glitter lid and basically I can't help but smile when I pick it up. If you're a member of the Priceline Sister Club, you may have received a sample card of Mad Potion in the mail recently (see photo below). Be sure to swipe it on and see how it wears on you!

Katy Perry's Mad Potion Eau de Parfum is available from Priceline, Myer, Chemist Warehouse and selected pharmacies and retails for $39 (30mls), $49 (50mls) and $69 (100mls).

My August Goals Revisited!

Welcome to the first day of Spring! Also, a pinch and a punch for the first day of the month. No returns. Time to revisit my August Goals and let you know how I went.

  • Clear out the entire Linenpress, ready for the Builder ~ NO (but now he doesn't need access through the Linenpress until after he's re-tiled the shower, so it's less of a priority)
  • Go to bed by 11pm Sunday to Thursday nights! ~ NO (sometimes, but not more than half the time)
  • Buy new jeans and long-sleeved tops ~ NO (this is long overdue)
  • First-time watch five movies ~ YES! 1. Trainwreck 2. Ant-Man 3. John Dies At The End 4. Jack The Giant Slayer 5. Big Hero 6
  • Cook five new dishes from recipes ~ YES! 1. Low Carb Cashew Chicken 2. Sausage and Baby Spinach Pasta 3. Shepherd's Pie with Sweet Potato 4. Baked Potatoes with Bacon, Chives and Tasty Cheese (pictured above) 5. Orange Chicken with Mint and Coriander
  • Find a cat (or any animal that's safe to pat) and pat it! ~ YES! Patted a dog on 10th of August!
  • Walk 5000 FitBit steps every weekday ~ NO (only maybe 30% of the time did I achieve this)
  • Cut and colour my hair ~ NO
  • Compile recipe printouts and cutouts into a folder ~ YES! Hooray!
  • Clear and clean my desk ~ NO

You'll be glad to know I did all the fun things and pretty much avoided all the un-fun stuff! I planned on clearing my desk on the last day of August, but to be honest, I just would've moved everything from my desk to somewhere else, so I'll leave it 'til I have time to actually clean, clear and throw some stuff out. If you want to see more photos of the dishes I cooked, check out Wordless Wednesday: Cooking Up A Storm!

TOTAL - 4/10

I'm going to be very busy this month (if you missed all the shit that's going down, check out A Quick Update!) so I'm not setting any goals for September. I just want to still have my sanity come October 1.

Don't miss a post!
