LUSH 2016 Halloween Collection!*

BOO! Are you excited about Halloween? We normally don't celebrate Halloween here, but this year I have a list of family-friendly movies that I'll be forcing my family to watch with me! We're talking Casper, Coraline, Hotel Transylvania, Goosebumps and Corpse Bride. Bring it on!

Even more exciting though, is this years Halloween collection from Lush! They've put together a special spooky bunch of ghoulish new releases to celebrate Halloween, and I was kindly sent a selection. The Lush 2016 Halloween Collection is available now, in-store and online, but you can only get them until the big day, October 31. So if you see anything you like, make sure you pick it up before it's too late. Let's have a look at what's in the range!

Sparkly Pumpkin Bath Bomb*
The absolute star of the show, in my opinion, is this stunning Sparkly Pumpkin Bath Bomb. I love anything shiny, and this gold glittery pumpkin certainly delivers sparkles. This is meant to give your bath water a gold lustre and 'magical' bubbles, and is fragranced with orange flower absolute, blackcurrant, juniper berries and lime oil. This orange-hued beauty smells fresh and amazing!

Monsters' Ball Bath Bomb*
This is a pink bath bomb with blue ears (horns, maybe?) and one googly eye, right in the middle. The eye fell off my monster shortly after having his photo taken, which I thought was fantastic, because honestly, what's scarier than a monster with no eyes? {Edit - I think it may have fallen off before the photo actually, because I've put it back on sideways. LMAO.} This is a monster mash-up of neroli and lime oil, both of which have uplifting qualities, so I'll be popping my eyeless freak into the bath next time hubby gets me in a bad mood, which I'm sure won't take long.

Lord Of Misrule Bath Bomb*
The vibrant colour of this bomb is absolutely gorgeous! Unlike the fresh and fruity fragrance of the pumpkin and monster, this one smells earthy, spicy, and unsurprisingly, pretty much akin to the Lord Of Misrule Shower Cream (more on that next). In the mix is patchouli, black pepper oil, vanilla absolute and popping candy. Yes, popping candy! When added to the bath, the deep green, slightly turquoise outer shell dissolves to reveal a wine-coloured centre, then crackling candy! If you like this bomb, great news; it will also be available come Christmas time.

Lord Of Misrule Shower Cream*
This is billed as an 'intoxicatingly naughty concoction' (ooh-err!) and it smells pretty much the same as the bath bomb variant; spicy and earthy from the black peppercorn and patchouli. It's like Lush shower gel, but it's a cream, so obviously it's creamier upon application. I prefer the shower gels, but the creams are good for a change. The hilarious thing is, I bought a huge 500g bottle of this at the 50% off sale last Christmas, and the label had a very Halloween-appropriate typo. It read 'Shower Scream', instead of 'Shower Cream'. This still cracks me up. Click here if you want to read my post on that.

Fireside Soap*
This looks really pretty with the red, orange and yellow flame design and again smells beautiful, but I'm not gonna lie, I'm confused, and here's why. The blurb on the product label reads 'bring this fiery soap, reminiscent of traditional Christmas songs, into the soap and make your own Christmas wonderland.' WTF? I thought it was Halloween. I also don't know how you bring a soap into a soap, lol. Anyhoo, it's a Lush soap, and I'm a massive fan of Lush soaps and I will use this and enjoy it. Fragrances; vanilla absolute and rapeseed, coconut, clovebud and pimento berry oils.

Magic Wand Soap*
This circle of goodness is tangerine scented, and smells absolutely delightful. I can't get enough of citrusy, fruity aromas, and Magic Wand also contains orange oil, pomegranate molasses and coconut oil. Lush say this shares the fragrance with Angel's Delight soap, from previous seasons, so if you liked that one, you'll probably be keen on this.

Goth Fairy Shimmer Bar*
How cute is this little guy? I'm intrigued by this shimmer bar, as it's such a unique product! This Goth Fairy is designed to be stroked over the skin so that the enriching butters melt in and nourish, while at the same time, leave an alluring sparkle behind. This feels so lovely when you glide it on, and the glittery sparkles left on the skin are plentiful. It contains illipe and cupuacu butters to nourish and soften the skin and a hell-ton of iridescent lustre particles in gold, green, purple and silver. The fragrances in this shimmer bar are grapefruit, almond and bergamot.

I would have loved to try out more of this collection before posting, but our bathroom renovation was only completed yesterday. Hurray for that though! Since these products are only on sale until the end of October, I thought I'd do more of a feature than a review. Hope you found it helpful!

As always with Lush, products are vegetarian and haven't been tested on animals, packaging is recycled and raw materials are ethically sourced. So you can shop with your conscience intact!

Mecca Beauty Loop Level 2 Box!

Hello! I am trying something new for a change; the 'Quickie Post'. Essentially, it's a short post, without too many words, that hopefully I can start and finish within a fairly short time-frame. Quicker for me, quicker for you, everybody goes home happy. LOL. Let me know in the comments if you like short posts, I'm keen to know!

So it's Mecca Beauty Loop time again, and I picked up my Level 2 box last week. If you're interested in how this one compares to the last Level 2 box (the Mecca staff Secret Ballot Winners box), which came out in July,  I've blogged about that here - if you're wondering what a Mecca Beauty Loop Box even is.... well it's part of Mecca's reward system. They release four sample boxes per year and the level you're eligible to collect is based on how much you've spent with them. Here's what's in my L2 box!

Bobbi Brown Smokey Eye Mascara (3 ml)
I'll definitely make use of this! I love Bobbi Brown makeup and this mini size will be great for travel.

Josie Maran 100% Pure Argan Oil (4.5 ml)
I'm not really into oils, although this is quite versatile as you can use it on your hair, face or cuticles. Also, I already have this exact product (same sample size) from somewhere else, untouched. I may end up giving this away to family.

Diptyque Philosykos EDP (2 ml)
I've heard of this brand, but never tried anything from them, so I'm keen to give this a go! Edit - just spritzed and it's quite a strong fig scent. I like it!

Smashbox Insta-Matte Liptick Transformer (1.5 ml sachet)
Alright for a bit of a play I guess, but probably not something I'd go for daily. Interested to see how it works though!

Review: Cherry Blooms Fiber Brow, Fiber Lash & Vinyl Liner!*

Have you heard of Cherry Blooms? They're an Australian beauty and style company that started out selling at a weekend market stall in Brisbane, and grew from there. Founder Jellaine developed Fiber Lash, Cherry Bloom's flagship product, after being inspired by similar products in Korean beauty stores, tweaking the formula until the product performed as she wanted. Cherry Blooms are known for their eye makeup products designed to build volume and fullness; we are talking fluttery lashes and on fleek brows! I happily accepted the offer to trial these products and was kindly sent Fiber Brow (in Mocha and Cappuccino Brown), Fiber Lash (in Black) and Vinyl Liner (also in Black). Let's have a look at the makeup!

Fiber Brow*

'The Cherry Blooms Mineral Fiber Brow Kit takes the guess work out of brow shaping.'

This is probably my favourite product of the three! In the box is a tube of the fibres and a set of three stencils; thin, natural and thick. This is great, because there's an eyebrow size to suit everyone, and you can even change it up yourself, depending on what look you're going for. I found 'natural' was the best fit for me. A hot tip; get the wand out of the tube before you press the stencil onto your face otherwise you won't have enough hands, unless you're an octopus, in which case HOW ARE YOU READING THIS? If you're one of those super-advanced, highly-intelligent reading octupuses, then ok, carry on. Don't mind me. Also, High Eight! *gets slapped in the face by eight wet tentacles*

I like that the product comprises fibres plus a coloured powder, as the powder fills in any areas that are sparse and lacking in hairs. I found Fiber Brow really quick and easy to use, and frankly, difficult to stuff up! I got an impression line on my noggin from holding down the stencil too hard (lol), but this faded away fairly quickly. The formula is quite dense, meaning there are plenty of fibres to enhance your brows and make them appear fuller. I have blonde hair (with way too much dark regrowth as I haven't been able to colour it in what seems like forever) and the shade mocha (for blonde to light brown hair) is a good match for me.

I haven't had any issues with my Fiber Brows rubbing off during the day thankfully! I'm impressed with the ease of use and the results, and would recommend this product to anyone wanting fuller eyebrows or help achieving an aesthetically-pleasing shape. It's especially good for those of us who are time-poor!

Fiber Lash*

'In 3 easy steps, Cherry Blooms Fiber Lash gives you the effect of extensions, without the drawbacks. High quality beeswax hydrates lashes while fibers add 3D volume. Amplifies lashes by 600% and no flaking.'

I'm not gonna lie, this one is a bit fiddly. There are two parts to the application process (well actually three, but there are two actual physical products), but if you don't mind spending a bit of time building up your lashes, Fiber Lash may be for you. I did get impressive length, however found that I also got clumps. The directions say to first apply around 20 strokes of Transplanting Gel (making sure you just do one eye at a time), then before it dries apply 15 strokes of the Fibers. Then you need to apply another 20 strokes of the Transplanting Gel over the top to seal in the Fibers. That's basically the process, then it's up to you whether or not you repeat these steps to achieve thicker and longer lashes. So there's a bit of work involved, and as mentioned before, I did get quite a bit of added oomph, so I think I'd use this for special occasions as it's not practical for my every-day routine. Some of the fibres fell into my eye, and in this case Cherry Blooms instruct you to close your eye and let the moisture shift the fibre to the corner of your eye, then remove it, but I just used my eyedrops to flush it out. I've only used ModelCo Fiber Lash Mascara as a comparison, and I do prefer the Cherry Blooms black fibers to the white ones from ModelCo.

Vinyl Liner*

'Cherry Blooms' formula contains polyvinyl which doesn’t absorb into the skin’s surface, making it long wearing and waterproof. The delicately fine, boldly black and extremely waterproof formula has been hailed as the only eyeliner that’ll stay on all day and look newly applied even after a busy day.'

This is described on the box as 'extremely waterproof' so I made the decision to have an extensive practice on my wrist first to get a feel for the brush and how the product applies, before going to town on my peepers. Turns out this was a smart move, because I was pretty shaky with my application and once this dries, it ain't budging! In my defence, I use a pencil liner daily (except for my wing flicks)  so I'm not a huge user of liquid liner. Once I finally applied Vinyl Liner to my eyes, I was in two minds about it, but kind of grew to like it. Even if your initial application is shaky, you're able to apply more over the top to even up your lines (thank God!).

At first I got a 'shiny' finish that I wasn't a fan of, but this wasn't as noticeable over time. After wearing Vinyl Liner a few times I really began to appreciate the waterproof feature, because even if my eyes watered, I never needed to touch it up during the day. It also didn't rub off or smudge, meaning I could just apply it then forget about it. I like that the brush is thin, as this allows precise application of a fine line which you can then build up to the desired thickness. I can actually achieve a much thinner line with this liner than my usual pencil one (Maybelline Masterliner), so my overall look was more natural. The box says the product needs to be removed with an oil-based makeup remover, but I could only find a sample of Benefit's They're Real Remover in my stash, and this did the job fine (it's more of a gel/cream consistency but is designed to remove waterproof makeup).

You can check out the Cherry Blooms range on their website.

Pamper Time With Natura Siberica!*

Having fallen in love with Natura Siberica's Oblepikha and Honey Body Scrub (which I raved about in this blog post), then their Oblepikha Shower Gel (blog post here), I was thrilled when they sent me a couple of pampering products; the Natura Siberica Active Organics Revitalizing Bath Salts* and Natura Siberica COSMOS Extra-Firming Facial Mask*.

"Natura Siberica is the first Certified Organic beauty brand based on wild harvested herbs and exclusive natural ingredients sourced from the unspoilt continent of Siberia. Founded in 2007, Natura Siberica beauty products contain natural adaptogens along with other Siberian herbs and plants which offer unique health and beauty benefits, possessing strong antioxidants and protective properties."

Natura Siberica Active Organics Revitalizing Bath Salts

'Revitalizing Siberian Herbal Bath Salt is enriched with essences and oils of Wild Harvested Siberian herbs to work youth and beauty’s magic on your skin. Immerse yourself in its exquisite, sensual aroma and discover an inexhaustible source of healing power – that of primal Siberian nature.'

I would class the Bath Salts as 'relaxing' more-so than 'rejuvenating', because I didn't feel re-awakened or enlivened but did feel incredibly relaxed and rested after using them! Keep in mind, these salts do not change the colour of the bathwater (that remains alarmingly clear) so if you don't like the sight of your naked body, take a book, magazine or your phone to distract your nude self. I had a really good stretch during my bath, stretching out my legs and wiggling my toes whilst downing my fun-size bag of Cheetos (because you gotta have bath snacks, right?). I know it's not just me! If memory serves me well, I didn't have lunch that day, so I also brought along a bag of popcorn for good measure. And probably a beer, because what's a bath without a Pure Blonde? Not worth having, that's what!

In an incredible act of foresight and planning, I miraculously remembered to take the Natura Siberica Bath Salts with me on holiday, because I knew our retreat contained a spa. Best decision ever! The entire bathroom filled with a delightful, fresh fragrance and again, I had the most amazingly relaxing series of baths with the bubble jets on! So I got a nice massage at the same time! I'd highly recommend these Bath Salts if you're stressed or just want to enjoy a fantastic bathing experience.

Natura Siberica COSMOS Extra-Firming Facial Mask

'This very gentle facial mask has been designed to correct wrinkles overnight, when the skin is most inclined to recovery and rejuvenation. The mask deeply nourishes and revitalises the skin. It also provides skin a rejuvenating effect, slowing the ageing process, lifting features, and redefining facial contours.'

This is a bit of a strange face mask, and to be honest, I'm still trying to work it out! It applies like a cream and kind of remains like a cream, except that it does soak in, but not fully, so you do have to wash it off, except it doesn't dry like other masks, so you're not removing a dry, crusty substance, but a mostly-soaked in cream. LOL. Again (and with every Natura Siberica product I've tried), the fragrance is lovely. The fact that it doesn't 'dry out' on the skin means it remains comfortable, and you may well get drunk and forget you have it on go over the recommended wait time of 15 minutes before removal (like I did), not that that will do you any harm! The first time I used this was in the bath, and it was a bit awkward trying to get it off, so I think the shower is definitely easier. Afterwards, my skin felt really soft and smooth and my pores appeared smaller, too. In general, my facial skin looked firmer so I do think this product meets its claims.

Being smack-bang in the middle of a long bathroom renovation means I haven't got as much use out of this as I would have liked, and at this point I cannot wait for the work to be finished so I can get back to my normal beauty routine and give this mask another whirl. Bring on Pamper Sundays!

Revitalizing Bath Salts RRP $14.99 (600g)
COSMOS Extra-Firming Facial Mask RRP $18.99 (75ml)

Natura Siberica is available online here but you can usually save at least $5 per product if you shop at Chemist Warehouse.

September Favourites!

Hello! We are away on a two week Staycation for the school holidays but have just popped home for the weekend, so I thought I'd type up my September Favourites! I can't blog from where we're staying, so unfortunately replying to comments is taking a while and I'm not getting a chance to comment back on your blogs at the moment. But we are escaping the bathroom renovation work, which means I don't have to wee in front of workmen or put up with loud, annoying drilling (or whatever the hell it is they do) sounds. Can't wait for it to be over and things to return to normal!

Anyhoo, my September Favourites consists of five fabulous products that have been rocking my world on a daily basis (up until the bathroom renovation started anyway!). Let me know if you've tried any of them in the comments. I'd love to hear your thoughts!

It's as good as it looks!

Oh Deer Sugar Rose & Passionfruit Shower Moose
First of all, let's appreciate the clever moose/mousse pun. I thought it was a spelling error until the joke dawned on me! And now for the actual product. This gorgeous, bright pink 'moose' is delightfully fluffy and whipped to perfection. The consistency is amazing, and the lovely fragrance is out of this world. This applies like a dream, leaves my skin soft and clean, and smells of roses and fruit. The rose petals add a special touch of luxury, too. I really can't find a single fault with this product, and y'all need to haul arse to Regent Arcade in Adelaide and check it out. If you don't live in Adelaide, check out the Oh Deer Sugar website, as they deliver Australia-wide, too.

Tarte Maracuja Creaseless Concealer

Tarte Maracuja Creaseless Concealer
I'm always on the hunt for good concealers, and right now, this is my favourite. I'd previously been using Maybelline Fit Me concealer, which is good, but I was finding the coverage inadequate. The Tarte concealer is versatile and I love that I can use it anywhere on my face. It's great at covering red blemishes around my chin and is amazing over the top of my Bobbi Brown Corrector under my eyes. I hate concealers that settle into fine lines and accentuate them, but this products really lives up to the 'creaseless' title. I apply it with a little brush under my eyes then blend out with a makeup sponge, and I get a really nice, natural-looking finish from it. I only wish there was more product in the tube, as I'm going through it quite quickly! I purchased this in my Sephora Haul on my Melbourne trip.

Pink Rules (300) is the third lipstick from the left

Rimmel Moisture Renew Sheer & Shine Lipstick in Pink Rules (300)*
I've reviewed this range of Rimmel lipsticks here but in terms of favourites, one particular lipstick from the collection stands out; Pink Rules. This is such an easy to wear lipstick. The hydrating formula is just that, hydrating and moisturising, and so comfortable to wear on the lips. The bright pink shade is really pretty, flattering and perfect now that the weather is warming up. I love the stain that this leaves behind. Wearing it blotted down is an easy, effortless look, and one I'm really enjoying lately!

Product at top: Ardell Mechanical Brow Pencil

Ardell Mechanical Brow Pencil
I originally discovered this product when I won a big pack of Ardell products in an Instagram giveaway, and I've been hooked ever since. I don't know if it's the strange triangular design, or if my application has improved, but my brows are looking more natural than when I was using my previous eyebrow pencil. I've been using this, along with some Ardell Pomade (when time permits) and some Benefit Gimme Brow and I'm so much happier with my brows. The triangular pencil design really allows me to vary the line thickness, depending on what look I'm going for. The only problem is actually finding this pencil in-store! I had to visit three Priceline stores to find it. It is available online here but personally I prefer to shop in-store!

Top right: Lush Passion Fruit Lip Balm

Lush Passion Fruit Lip Balm*
I was kindly sent this along with a bunch of other Lush lip balms and tooth products. In terms of the lip balms, my two favourite scents are the Key Lime Pie and Passion Fruit, but this is the one I've been reaching for every night before bed. This has a thin consistency, glides on easily and feels slick on the lips. I love that it makes my lips feel really soft and nourished. I feel like Lush have improved the design of their little metal screw-top tins as well. I remember a few Christmas lip balm releases where the tin was hard to open and never really closed properly, but no such issues with this collection. Passion Fruit appears orange in the tin. It has a slight shimmer with tiny sparkly particles and once applied imparts an ever-so-subtle orange tint. I absolutely adore the fruity fragrance of this product!

Review: TONIC Skincare Range!*

Hi guys! About a month ago I was kindly sent a trio of skincare products from the TONIC range to try out; the Clarifying Foaming Cleanser, Microexfoliant+ and the Vita Glow Hydrate. This is an Aussie-made skincare collection that is available exclusively at Essential Beauty salons across Australia. You may have already seen the bright red packaging in-store! The products were developed by a team of industry professionals including skincare specialists, manufacturers and botanical chemists. Let's take a closer look at the TONIC philosophy and the products themselves.

TONIC believe in 'strength and energy from nature' and 'effective targeted results'. Their philosophy is to use the power of nature via plant extracts and essential oils that have been chosen for their healing and anti-ageing properties. They do not use chemicals in their products and are proud to produce a skincare collection that uses naturally derived ingredients.

TONIC Clarifying Foaming Cleanser*

'This ultra-mild gel cleanser addresses complexion imbalance while cleansing deeply, aiding in calming any areas of redness. Natural BHA and AHA fruit acids gently remove dead skin cells and daily impurities without removing important skin oils'.

The Clarifying Foaming Cleanser is designed for normal/oily/combination skin types and contains the following active ingredients; Salicylic Acid, Aloe Vera, Witch Hazel extract, Fruit Acids (AHA) and Canadian Willow herb. This Cleanser is a fairly thick, slightly yellow-hued gel that foams easily and well. It's extremely gentle and the subtle scent is calming and earthy. The aroma listed on the website for this product is 'tranquil + vanilla' and this seems to fit with what I experienced. This foaming cleanser leaves my skin really soft and feeling thoroughly cleansed, but not dry or tight at all. I really enjoy using this Cleanser, and would recommend trying it if you're after a natural, effective product.

TONIC Microexfoliant+*

'This velvety face exfoliant combines biodegradable beads and fruit acids with gentle cleansing and hydrating oils. Refines pores and promotes healthy cell renewal without damaging or drying skin'.

The Microexfoliant+ is designed for all skin types and contains Kaolin Clay, Willow Bark, Fruit Acids (AHA), Papaya Enzyme, Bamboo and Calendula extract as its active ingredients. This Microexfoliant is slightly off-white, and has a really creamy consistency. The scrubby particles are tiny and there are plenty of them in the mix, giving a really satisfying yet not too abrasive exfoliation for us scrub-lovers! I love the feel of this on my skin. It's the perfect combination of creamy and scrubby, and leaves my skin so soft and smooth. It does have a tendency to settle in the container, so I'd advise giving it a quick shake before use to get it mixed evenly. I prefer the 'tranquil + vanilla' scent of the Cleanser to the 'Paradise' scent of this Microexfoliant, but it's not unpleasant, just not as great as the calming smell. This product is another winner for me!

TONIC Vita Glow Hydrate*

'A nourishing cream that has been fortified with potent antioxidants, organic butters and nutritious vitamin-enriched extracts to provide illumination and ultimate hydration that will restore the skin's acid mantle.'

The Vita Glow Hydrate is designed for dry and mature skin types and contains the following active ingredients; Cocoa Seed Butter, Ribose, Hyaluronic Acid, Elderberry and Mica. This is a lightweight to medium consistency white cream that feels luxurious and absorbs easily into the skin. I felt like it had an earthy fragrance like the Cleanser, but it turns out this has the Paradise aroma! Still, it's pleasant and not overpowering at all. The Vita Glow left my skin feeling supple to the touch, and it felt nourished and healthy, as though it had been 'fed' some nutrients. I did feel as though my face had a bit of an extra glow after using this moisturiser, too. From time to time I did have a bit of trouble with the pump packaging, as on some occasions my pumps did not dispense any product, but after a bit of manipulation, this problem was fixed.

If these products aren't your cup of tea, other products in the collection include the Soft Focus Eye Cream, Ultra Detox Serum, Cleansing Milk, Vita Day Glow Purify, Advanced Acne Blemish Cream, Night Cream and the Ultra Age Rewind Serum. Something I found really helpful and interesting? A complete rundown of the ingredients TONIC use in their skincare and what said ingredients do to your skin! You can check that out on their website here. I love the bold, red design of these products! The range looks elegant and stylish, and once my bathroom renovation is complete, I can't wait to display them on my brand new vanity!

TONIC Skincare is available exclusively at Essential Beauty Salons. Click here to find your closest salon.

Does this skincare line sound appealing to you?
